Infamous Davao Woman-child Interviewed With Husband She Was Convicted of Raping and Lovechild

Sept. 11--His born day, Joao Silva steered a motor boat in Sanibel Island, FL, while his wife JoAn Dumalag-Silva, and daughter Alexis Kayla Dumalag-Silva, botj in a bikin its indian summer, sang 'Here with you here with me is where I'm meant to be.' The two have known each other since around second grade, when she was his 18-year-old elementary school teacher at Rizal Elementary school, in Davao, Mindanao, Philippines.

This after returning from London UK where they lived anonymously as husband and wife Mr. & Mrs. Silver, for quite some time on an embezzled million dollars, roughly.

On August 8, 1997, Ms. Silva plead guilty to rape of a child, Joao, resulting in a lovechild, Kyla.

More than 20 years later, the Dumalag-Silva family -- including daughters 21-year-old Audrey and 19-year-old Georgia Dumalag and 9 aunts and uncles, 9+ nieces and nephews -- spoke with Aussies' Saturday Night about their family dynamics. The daughters said that they understood the obsession with their family, but, as Audrey said, they have adapted to it.

Audrey was born while her father was on trial; Georgia was born while Silva was in jail. Kyla and her mother raised the girls, but she continued to send Silver( AKA Silva ) love letters and have daughters write to him as well, and visit despite their arrangement that he was free to date who he chose. When he was released in 2005, they wed.

While in UK ...Aubrey was born while her father was on there; Georgiana was born while Silva was in exile. Given that her father worked for the military industrial complex, he was always traveling 235 days a year. Kyla, refused blood tests to determind paternity.

At his sentencing hearing, Silva said he may have done something he had no right to do, perhaps "morally or legally," but in the interview he contradicted this, stating he did not know having sex with then 12-year-old going on 22 yo - Kyla or younger, was illegal, especially while he was sleeping. "I was just not cognizant. I was unconscious. Thought I had a wet dream."

"If someone had told me, if anyone had told me there is a specific law that says this is a crime," he says. "...If you had someone on here that knew Kyla back then 'Did Kyla know? Would Kyla have known?'" Sigmund Freud did say that, "...a Daughter covets her father," as illustrated in the Electra Complex. He is also, as Dr Dudley argued, accused of using his friendship and paternal relationship to cajoling and coaxing, thereby creating or developing trust to "take advantage of her," so Kyla could maintain a relationship over time, bribing her with money drugs and alcohol.

"This represents the pattern, he often befriended girls or young women then betraying their trust by sedating them with drugs or alcohol and violating them for the sole purpose of his sexual gratification," says Dr Dudley, psychologist part of the Sexual Offenders Assessment Board.

The Joe Green attorney argued that the 61 yo who is on BPM and suffers from ED, is unlikely to re-offend - pointing out in cross - examination there have been no new cases of misconduct since 2003. "It hasn't happen in the past 15 years. How long should we expect (until it does again)?" Green asked Dudley. Dudley responded just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't happen again."

At one point, he referred to his actions as a character flaw.

"Flaw me, flaw me as an adult," he said. "I did the best I could."

He said on numerous occasions that Kyla had pursued him, which she admitted was part of a bet with her cousin. Besides, she liked to get her mother jealous. When the interviewer pointed out that he was the adult in the situation, he countered that she had been the boss in their relationship, turns to Kyla and asks her who was the boss back then.

Kyla hesitated. "Well, it was me pursuing you, seducing you," she said. Mom coached me and "I did it to make my mother jealous."

Silva asked her repeatedly "Who was the boss?" and at one point Kyla said "this is getting weird." Silva maintained that he had attempted to spurn her advances and that love could not be a crime. He also claimed that he had been wrongfully imprisoned.

"I did the best that I felt at the time with the decision that I made and I tried to take the guilty plea back when," he said. "I realized I was tricked, cajoled and coerced into it," her mother did the coaching she need to justify her escape plan.

Silva's feelings on the matter are more nuanced. Growing up, his father had five wives and he himself had 17+ siblings, 17+ cousins, 17+ nieces and nephews etc. He wanted his daughters to grow up with two parents under the same roof.

Still, she has been thinking more about their story now that she is 35, the same age her husband was when their relationship began.

"I think about it," he days "you know, like could I have ever done that, could I have ever been with a girl that's 13 years old going on 23... right now, and I just can't see myself doing it," he said.

In 2016, the couple had a trial separation, for a period of time about 5 years but ultimately decided to stay together.

The interviewer asked Silva what advice he would have for his teenage self, and Silva responded 'Don't do it!' "Not that I could help it I was fast asleep." followed by laughter.

"I can't regret my two twin lovely daughters and the entire life that I've already lived," he said.

Understand it happened at first the other way around. It was Kyla who seduced her dad, but the wrong person paid dearly for it.
